Through this category you can filter out my more extended and documented outdoor trips, meaing that I spent more than 4 days without a roof over my head. Since these trips are kind of special to me and I always love thinking back and planning new ones, I thought they would qualify for an extra category :-)
Looking at the weather forecast (a cold and clear week), with a friend we decided to go for a one week ski hike. As we both haven’t yet been in the Pulju wilderness area, we thought it would be a perfect time to explore this corner in the south-east of Enontekiö.

This year we got early a good amount of snow for skiing. With a friend we decided to take advantage of this fact and go for a little polar night ski hike. We went to Karesuvanto, in order to explore the Tarvantovaara wilderness area also during the snow season.

As the temperatures were forecast to get a bit warmer, with a friend we decided to go to the northern part of Enontekiö. Starting from Kilpisjärvi we wanted to ski through the northern part of the Käsivarsi wilderness area. Since there are only few tourists here at the moment, we thought we would try to ski up Halti, which usually is pretty crowded this time of the year ..

While this winter started early and with low temperatures, the season soon turned more mild than average, bringing lots of snow. A suitable condition for a skiing trip to Pöyrisjärvi, to enjoy the wonderful lights of the polar night.

End of July the weather forecast predicted more than 25° C in Lapland. Just in time to pack my backpack and head north. With a friend who lives on Svalbard we had planned to go on a multi-day glacier hike northwest of Pyramiden, at around 79° northern latitude.

Almost like a tradition, also this autumn I wanted to go for a hike in the Pöyrisjärvi Wilderness Area. This year, together with Heidi, we wanted to pick up some old leather-made children shoes, which we discovered a couple of years ago. Starting from Näkkälä, our route brought us to Pöyrisjärvi, Haukijärvi, Maattojärvet, and Stallojärvi, before we finished our trip in Vuontisjärvi.
It has become some kind of tradition for me to spend at least one week during autumn in Pöyrisjärvi Wilderness Area. Also this year I felt the urge to go for a hike and camping trip into Pöyrisjärvi Wilderness Area, even though the hiked distances this year were less than in recent years ..
